2. Definitions
These terms and conditions use the following definitions:
a) Card or the Finnlines Star Club Card means a loyalty card related to the Programme and issued to an individual passenger in a mobile or physical form. As a rule, the Card is delivered by email as a mobile card, but a physical card may also be provided upon separate request by the customer. The Card is not a credit or debit card and may not be used as such.
b) Passenger means a private individual who has travelled or intends to travel with Finnlines and is eligible to join the Programme.
c) Finnlines means Finnlines Plc and its subsidiaries.
d) Programme or the Finnlines Star Club loyalty programme means the Finnlines Star Club loyalty programme in the form valid at any given time and defined in these terms and conditions. The Programme is a loyalty programme free of annual charge or joining fee.
3. Contact information
The Finnlines Star Club loyalty programme is administered by Finnlines Plc, Star Club, PL 197, 00181 Helsinki, Finland.
II. Membership and application
4. Terms of membership
All private individuals over the age of 18 may apply for a Finnlines Star Club Card.
Finnlines will send a confirmation of Star Club membership by email immediately after submitting the application to all passengers that meet the terms of membership. The Passenger must immediately notify Finnlines of any changes to the information provided on the application. Companies, associations and other legal entities are not eligible for the Finnlines Star Club Card or membership in the Finnlines Star Club loyalty programme.
5. Application
The Passenger may apply for a Finnlines Star Club Card by filling in the online membership application form at www.finnlines.com/starclub and submitting it via the website to Finnlines for processing. All mandatory fields in the application form must be filled in. If the Passenger has separately ordered the Card in a physical format, the Card will be mailed to the address stated in the application form within around four weeks of submitting the loyalty programme application form.
6. Membership and Card
Membership in the Programme and the Card are valid until further notice from the time that the Passenger has received the confirmation email and verified his or her membership via the link in the confirmation email and created a personal password for the membership page. The separately ordered physical Card need not be signed.
The Passenger must immediately notify Finnlines of misuse or suspected misuse of the Card or the loss of the physical Card. The Card is personal and only the individual named on the Card is entitled to its use. Each Passenger may only hold one Card at a time. If the physical Card is damaged or lost, Finnlines may, at its discretion, issue a new physical Card to the Passenger after Finnlines has been notified of the lost or damaged Card. Finnlines has the right to charge a fee of 10 euros for issuing a new physical Card. Finnlines shall not be liable for any costs or damages resulting from damage to or loss of the Card.
Passengers who have joined the Programme may update their contact details and interests on their personal member page. The Passenger can generate login credentials for his or her member page from the link in the confirmation email.
III. Programme
7. General
Finnlines has the right to change the Programme’s terms and conditions, benefits and discounts or terminate or suspend the Programme at any time without advance notice to the Passenger. Finnlines shall notify the Passenger of any changes and amendments to these terms and conditions on the website www.finnlines.com/starclub. The Programme’s currently valid terms and conditions are those published on the website www.finnlines.com/starclub. The terms of the Programme shall in no way substitute Finnlines’ shipping terms for passengers and their luggage and vehicles. In case of conflict between the terms of the Programme and shipping terms, the shipping terms shall take precedence.
8. Privacy
Upon filling in and submitting the online membership application form, the Passenger gives Finnlines the right to store, process and use the provided information for maintaining the Programme, providing services and discounts related to the Programme, and for marketing purposes, including sending news and special deals to the Drivers’ stated email address, mobile phone number and/or postal address. As the controller of personal data, Finnlines shall process personal data in accordance with the Programme’s privacy statement and valid data protection legislation.
By submitting the application, the Passenger gives Finnlines the right to collect information on the Passenger’s purchases and trips. Finnlines shall use the information it collects for its own marketing purposes and for developing its ship and shore services. The Passenger’s personal data shall not be disclosed to third parties, with the exception of companies from which Finnlines purchases its marketing services. Details on the processing and purposes of processing of personal data collected upon joining the Programme are described on the carrier’s website at the address: www.finnlines.com/dataprivacy. The Passenger is obligated to notify Finnlines of any changes to his or her name, address, email address or telephone number by updating said information on his or her member page or by contacting Finnlines’ sales service.
9. Discounts and deals
Discounts and deals may vary depending on the route, vessel and/or the Passenger’s country of origin. The Passenger’s country of origin is determined based on the postal address stated on the membership application form.
a) Discounts on board
The Card does not entitle the Passenger to any universal discounts or standard deals on board any of the vessels. The discounts and deals valid at any given time are intended for personal use by the Passenger. The benefits are received by presenting the Card upon purchase. Discounts or deals cannot be claimed retroactively. The Passenger does not have the right to forward or otherwise transfer any discounts, deals or rights included in the Programme to third parties. In order to receive Programme-specific discounts and deals, the Passenger may be asked to present proof of identity to Finnlines or a subcontractor on board the vessel.
b) Travel deals
In order to receive a Programme-specific travel deal, at least one person named on the reservation must be a member of the Programme. Discounted Star Club reservations may include at most 1 vehicle, 2 cabins and 9 persons. Group reservations are not possible, and the Programme’s travel benefits are not valid when booking through a travel agency.
The travel deals valid at any given time are intended solely for personal use by the Passenger and require that upon reservation, the Passenger must enter their Card number in the required field in the online booking system or provide the number when booking the trip by phone or email. In promotional travel deals, members must also provide the promotional code issued by email, text message and/or the member page in the required field in the online booking system. Star Club members may not make reservations for persons with whom they are not travelling.
Star Club travel deals cannot be combined with any other discounts, with the exception of the standard 20 per cent discount on round trips.
Discounted Star Club trips may be booked in the Finnlines online booking system or from the Finnlines sales service by email or phone. Discounted Star Club trips cannot be booked at check-in. The Passenger must present proof of Star Club membership upon departure by presenting their member card at check-in.

Finnlines shall not be liable for any loss suffered by the Passenger or a third party due to changes or amendments to the Programme or to these terms and conditions, deactivation of the Passenger’s Card (whether on grounds of these terms or for another reason), any breach of these terms and conditions, or any other event related to the Programme. If the Passenger is in breach of these terms and conditions, Finnlines has the right to reclaim any discount or deal granted after said breach by the Passenger. The Passenger shall be liable for any damage caused to Finnlines by the breach of these terms and conditions.
13. Applicable law and jurisdiction
The terms and conditions of the Programme shall be governed exclusively by Finnish law, excluding its provisions on conflict of laws, unless otherwise stipulated by binding national law. All disputes arising from the Programme shall be settled at the court of first instance of the Passenger’s place of residence.
Disputes that arise from the Programme shall be settled primarily by means of negotiation between the parties. The Passenger is always entitled to bring disputes related to the Programme to the Consumer Disputes Board (www.kuluttajariita.fi/en) for processing. Before bringing the dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board, the consumer should contact the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority’s Consumer Advisory Services (www.kkv.fi/en/).
