Finnlines upgrades route between Sweden and Germany following passenger growth

Finnlines Plc, Press release, Malmö, 24 June 2024

Finnlines maintains its commitment to Malmö. In April, the shipping company launched a new line between Malmö and Poland and is now upgrading its services on the Malmö–Travemünde route. At the end of June, a new restaurant will be opened on board one of the vessels operating the route, as well as renovated facilities on the other two.

During the first five months of this year, Finnlines has observed a growth in passenger numbers on its Malmö–Travemünde route compared to the same period last year. In response, the shipping company is upgrading services on the route for the summer. On June 25, a new restaurant called Bistro Navigare will open onboard Finnswan, one of the three vessels operating the route daily. Bistro Navigare offers 24 seats and a new menu featuring salads, hamburgers and fish and chips.

– We look forward to welcoming our passengers to Bistro Navigare and hope they will appreciate the new menu. With the opening of the new restaurant, we want to show our commitment to enhancing the onboard experience for our customers, says Staffan Winberg, Onboard Services Supervisor at Finnlines, Malmö.

This summer will also see the opening of newly refurbished lounge areas on the line’s other two vessels Finnpartner and Finntrader. The new upgraded public areas can accommodate seating for up to 60 people and have been carefully designed to ensure passenger comfort.

– Last summer, we experienced excellent passenger figures, and the start of this year indicates that we are on track to exceed them, says Staffan Winberg.

Ferry trips on the Baltic Sea with Finnlines

The shipping company opened a new route to Poland in April, which was also well received by both freight customers and passengers. From Malmö, travellers can now travel with Finnlines to continental Europe via two different connections. This means that the shipping company offers a new unique product where travellers can go to Poland’s westernmost city Świnoujście and Travemünde in Germany, then travel through the German Riviera and return home with Finnlines. For those wishing to stay in the seaside resort of Świnoujście, an affordable holiday awaits with Poland’s widest beach and a beautiful promenade lined with numerous restaurants and bars.
